Mr. President, now I would like to make the following statement in my national capacity in a very compact way.
Aliging with the OIC statement, we once again underline that the recognition of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, are essential for ensuring lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
In this regard, we welcome the announcement that the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution will be held in New York next week.
We commend the leadership of Saudi Arabia and France in advancing this vital initiative.
As a roundtable co-chair of the conference, Türkiye urges all Member States to seize this opportunity to reinvigorate collective efforts toward a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace.
To this end, we stress the importance of increasing international recognition of the State of Palestine and ensuring its full membership in the United Nations as critical steps towards implementing the two-state solution.
Mr. President,
In conclusion, we call on this Council to act with unity, determination, and moral clarity to end the suffering in Gaza and to uphold the principles of the United Nations Charter.
We reiterate our urgent calls for:
•an immediate and sustained ceasefire in Gaza,
•unhindered humanitarian access in accordance with international law,
•and, a renewed and urgent commitment to the two-state solution.
We trust the upcoming High-Level International Conference will serve as a catalyst for mobilizing the necessary momentum, resources, and political will to achieve these goals.
Türkiye stands ready to support the Palestinian people and all efforts to achieve a political solution based on the two-state vision and pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent, sovereign, and geographically contiguous State of Palestine.
Mr. President,
The conference is approaching. I reiterate our call again as the co-chair of the roundtable “Preserving the Two-State solution” to all members of the UN, but especially members of this Council, to contribute to the success of this Conference, by recognizing the State of Palestine, to take this historic opportunity. States have tools to combat unlawfulness and serve justice, as stated by the ICJ advisory opinion.
I thank you.
